Cherokee 39KB

We traded our Hornet 33 for a Cherokee 39KB. We love the room it provides but the quality of certain components is just not there. First the fridge died after 3 days (the frost free feature was stuck in the open position) Then we had a leak around the crank up antenna had to re caulk, then the curtain over the slider was soaked during a rain storn from driving rain against the window, then the famous Concertone stopped playing DVDs. Then the skylight over the table leaked so badly that we had a water feature of running water into a pail. Then the control panel that monitors the gas/blackwater/grey water stopped working we thought there was no gas but when we went to have the bottles filled one was empty and one was full..... we have been running on electric for 2 weeks now waiting for repair. Come to find out the wire from the converter was live but the wire to the control panel was dead all of a sudden. Also the cable splitter in the small bedroom was wired wrong so the signal for internet was dropping and non existent. The pan in the shower isn't pitched right so there is always standing water and you have to push it down the drain. While most of these things can be fixed I would not have expected any of these things to happen on a 6 week old trailer. Our Hornet never had any problems just got too small. Thanx for letting me vent.

RE: High Pressure Rinser for BW tank

Thank for the imput. We are at a seasonal site and typically leave the grey open and the black closed. When I dump I usually close the grey and open the black. So when I hook up the garden hose not the water hose to the valve for the high pressure wash I should have the black open and the grey closed?

RE: New Trailer/New Fridge

Update The fridge guy determined the frost free mechanism was stuck in the open position thus it defrosted and never went back on... My understanding is it goes on and off periodically so there is no frost... done and over and hope nothing else goes wrong

RE: New Trailer/New Fridge

Update... it is now Weds. and things are moving very slowly to get this resolved. No one sees the priority. Talked to the dealer on Monday they had sent someone over to check it out and it was determined it did not work! Big surprise. Heard nothing yesterday... called this AM the sales person wasn't avail. (another big surprise) but the women who answered the phone said they were waiting for me to provide the serial number.... I am 87 miles away from the site so I said "so I can pretty much plan on not having a fridge this weekend"... since I will not be there until Friday night. I left a message for the salesman to call me. Next call came the appliance repair dealer in Maine asking when he could go and repair my brand new fridge! I told him I was going to call the salesman which I did and he said basically it is warrantied and I had to have it repaired..... and they would not supply a replacement. At this point I said well send the guy over on Sat. and if it is not repaired I want a new one by next week. The repair guy doesn't work on Sat. so I have to take a day off work (friday) to go over and accomodate him.... this is so frustrating I could just scream. THis dealer is small and I picked them because I though he could provide good customer service well was I mistaken...... I hope nothing else goes wrong.

New Trailer/New Fridge

I had my new Cherokee 39KB delivered a week ago Tues(May 20th) Everything ran Ok the first weekend.... we arrived at our seasonal site last night and the household fridge waas not working... ikkkk
the light came on but it was warm in there and the smell..... I called the dealer and he is sending someone over on Monday but indicated that the food loss (150.00) was not covered on the initial warranrty or the one year extension just the 1500.00 warranty.... has anyone had this experience? we always had a gas/electric fridge so this is new to me..... any help will be appreciated

RE: TV mounts

We are on a seasonal site so movement is not a concern. The TV 20" flat screen is now on top of the chest of drawers. The problem is when you lay down you can't see it. It would have to articulate forward and back to adjust the screen. The walls are interior walls. Looking for a solution. Any ideas?

New Trailer

We finally had our new Cherokee 39KB delivered to our seasonal site last Tues. It is a beauty. We are very happy with it and the amount of space it has. We had a Hornet 33 before this. Can't wait to go use it this weekend.
Thank you to all of you who gave me some great advise.

RE: black streak preventer

Do you think this would be helpful in areas where there are NO slides.... if you installed it over the slides this would just make it run off onto the top of the slides. We have the rain diverters on each corner and it spouts the rain o ff about 2 inches from the sides.

RE: who has a seasonal site?

We are in our 7th summer in a seasonal site. We are also expecting delivery of our 3rd trailer this year. We like some others knew nothing about trailers and picked a too small one the first time. The next one was great but we got the bug to get one with a second bedroom. Hense, we got a 39ft Cherokee. I can't wait for it to be delivered. We are in a small park with only 35 sites so it is nice and small. It is about 1.5 hours from home so very doable. With the price of gas I am glad it is still within stiking distance. We are 7/10 mile from the beach so it is great. We were lucky to get in on the ground floor and it took alot of vision to get past the piles of dirt and the promise of a clubhouse and pool. It all came out great and are glad to be there as others in the area have a 5-10 year waitlist.

RE: Innsbruck???????

We looked at a couple of Gulfstreams while in the process of buying a new trailer. I thought the fit and finish was good for the price. The deciding factor for us was looking at the resale values up against some of the other mfg/models we were looking at. I guess if you are not planning on selling in 5-6 years you should go with what you like. We ended up with a Cherokee.
